Kasuri (絣) – the Japanese Ikat

On many models of our collection, we attach small Kasuri patches or strings.  Kasuri can be described as Japanese Ikat, which has been commonly used for Kimono since the 19th century.  The production entails highly skilled technique.  Only small numbers of Japanese weavers continue production of Kasuri today.  By including Kasuri textile on our clothing, we continue to support the ongoing production of this beautiful and traditional hand crafted art.
